It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of life member Norman Truax.  Norm served many active years with the company and was instrumental in starting the bingo fundraiser at the St. Thomas Township Fire & Rescue. Norm helped move the company forward in many ways during his years as an active member. Please keep the family in your prayers.

Saturday, February  4, 2012:   This evening just as members finished up at the awards banquet Company 18 was alerted with station 4 and other first alarm units to 701 Warmspring Rd. for a house fire. As Engine 18-2 was arriving command held station 4 and returned other units. Engine 18-2 then transferred to station and as they were arriving at station 4 was placed available.

 

 


 

Saturday, February  4, 2012:   This evening members enjoyed an evening of fellowship, and awards at the Company's annual awards banquet. This year the banquet was held at the Edenville Community Center. Members were recognized for their accomplishments thru out 2011. Special Thanks to McConnellsburg for providing the engine transfer and to Greencastle EMS for the Ambulance stand by.  Award winners listed below.

 

EMS Awards:

EMT Rookie of the year: Cameron Atherton

EMT of the year: Tiara Bard

 

Also numerous members were given duty shirts for there continued support on the EMS side of the operations.

 

Fire Police Awards:

Fire Police with most calls: Bob Jones

Second Runner up: Randy Walls

Third Runner up: Chris Walls

Fire Police Capt. Randy Walls presented his wife  Wanda Walls, also Fire Police Secretary with a "Special Award" for putting up with him and supporting him thru out the year.

 

Fire Awards:

Rookie of the year: Mike Hardsock

Fire Fighter of the year: Ben Brewer

Chief Awards: Denny Wright

 

Administrative Awards:

Appreciation Award: Mabel Lee Schaffer - For her continued support on supporting the fundraising efforts of the company.

President Don Eshelman Jr. and his wife presented a "Special Picture" which is a tribute picture to the events of 9-11, that was obtained from a sale of items owned by the Late Senator Terry Punt, This was presented to Chief Bigler to be displayed in the station. We would like to thank the Eshelman family for the item that will be displayed in the station.

Wednesday, February  1, 2012:   This morning crews were alerted to 13612 Main St. in Fort Loudon, for a shed fire. Due to Company 9 being sent to another location, Tanker 18 and Engine 18-2 arrived first. Crews placed a line in service and brought the fire under control in a few mins. Command 9 held some units for the overhaul. Company 18 operated for about an hour.

 

 

 

 


 

Monday, January 23, 2012:   This morning a crew on Engine 18-2 went to Abbottstown  to attend the funeral services for Fire Fighter Brandon Little who was killed in the line of duty on January 18, 2012.

 

                                                  

 

 

 


 

Monday, January 23, 2012:   At 0437 Hrs. Engine 18-2 was dispatched to transfer to Company 5 while they operated on a house fire in Waynesboro. Engine 18-2 stood by until placed in service at 0607 Hrs. No calls handled during the stand by.

 

 

 

 


 

 

Saturday, January 21, 2012:   At 2302 Hrs. Franklin County dispatched Rescue Box 18-3 to the intersection of Warmspring Rd. & Valley Camp Rd.  for an auto accident with roll over and confinement sending Engine 18-2, Amb. Co. 18 Amb. 9-8 & 9-7 Medic 203 and 101. Engine 18-2 responded with Asst. Chief 18 (Atherton), and while enroute was advised we had a vehicle overturned with three people confined. Just prior to the arrival of the Engine, communications advised one was self extricated and two were still confined. Engine 18-2 arrived and found the vehicle to be down over the embankment, and confirmed two confined. Crews began taking equipment over the embankment and stabilizing the vehicle. Engine 18-1 then arrived and assisted Engine 18-2 crew. The roof was removed and crews stabilized patients to be brought up the hill in the stokes. Chief 18 (Bigler) later requested Squad 41 and Engine 9-1 with manpower to assist. Just prior to the additional services arriving crews from 18 had both patients at the top of the hill, and loaded into the EMS units. Chief 18 held Squad 41 and placed Engine 9-1 in service. Crews then began the clean up and command released the units when available. Company 18 cleared at 0016 Hrs.

Monday, January 16, 2012:   At 0224 hours Engine 18-2 was dispatched to Company 15 (West End Fire & Rescue ) for a transfer while they operated on the scene of an apratment fire in Shippensburg. Engine 18-2 was released and returned to service at 0540 Hrs. No calls were handled.
